Bear Flat Community Garden Top Plants

The Bear Flat Community Gravel Garden is standing up well to the latest heatwave. Volunteers are watering occasionally just to keep the new planting, done earlier this year, ticking over. Plants that have been in since last year, or longer, seem to be holding up. The flowers are there for humans and wildlife to enjoy so it is important to keep plants alive and healthy.

The best performers for drought-tolerance undoubtedly include perovskia, gaura, sedum and lavender. The verbena bonariensis and grasses add some see-through height.
