The Sad Passing of Stan Hitt MBE

It is with great sadness that we announce that Stan Hitt MBE has passed away. 

He was Bath Parks director from the mid 70s to the mid 80s and went on to become curator of the Botanic Gardens.

He was the founder of the always popular Bath Spring Flower Show.

Stan was a member of the Bath in Bloom Committee for many years and was also a Britain in Bloom judge.

His ideal day out was a trip to the garden centre to buy more plants with his late beloved wife Iris.

His friends and colleagues called  him Stan but everyone at Parks Dept called him Mr Hitt, that shows the respect they had for him.

He was a true gentleman who dedicated his whole career to horticulture, he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
