Entry Form and Bath in Bloom Judging Criteria

The Bath in Bloom Competition is open to all residents, businesses, institutions or community groups within the boundary of Bath & North East Somerset.
Bath in Bloom is a competition which encourages floral displays and raises awareness of environmentally friendly gardening in Bath and Northeast Somerset.


Entry to the competition is free, using the Bath in Bloom competition entry form below which contains category details. Submit your entry using the form below, or alternatively download the form and send to the address as indicated on the form. Each entrant/household may choose up to two categories.

Entries should arrive no later than Monday June 7th 2021. Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Categories: Maximum of 2 can be entered. Please tick the relevant box(es) below.

  1. Small garden up to 150 sq. m
  2. Medium garden 150-500 sq. m
  3. Large garden over 500 sq. m
  4. Containers and/or hanging baskets display – home planted
  5. Allotment or kitchen garden
  6. Business premises using container planting (e.g. Hotel, B&B, shop, office)
  7. Business premises with a garden
  8. Pub with floral display – containers or garden
  9. Horticultural achievement by a community group
  10. Garden with emphasis on environmentally friendly methods
  11. Patio or courtyard garden – private or business

The competition will be run in accordance with government Covid-19 guidelines in place at the time.Judging dates:

Judging dates Saturday July 10th – Sunday July 18th 2021
Please note that the judges will contact you to arrange a time to visit.
Due to the Covid pandemic the school category is being suspended for 2021.
Judges will leave their calling cards if entries are visible from the pavement. The judges’ decisions will be final.

Category winners from the previous year will automatically go forward to one of the three winners' categories. These are; best Community Group winner, best Private winner and best Business winner. You will be contacted in order to verify that you still wish to be entered.

Judging Guidelines

For the majority of categories the judges will be marking your entry on the following criteria:

  • Impact
  • Variety and the use of a range of plants
  • Colour Combinations
  • Originality and design
  • Condition, care and sustainability

Presentation of awards

Award winners and guests will be invited to attend the Presentation evening (date to be announced) in the Roper theatre, Hayesfield Girls School, Upper Oldfield Park, Bath.
