Help and Advice for Community Groups
Many groups are concerned about tackling projects in the community because they do not have Public Liability Insurance. It is becoming easier for community groups to obtain reasonably priced insurance from a variety of companies. The Royal Horticultural Society also offers good rates for In Bloom and ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ Groups.
You can search for a wide variety of funding opportunities on-line via Bath and North East Somerset Council’s website.
If you want to organise a community litter pick in your area, the Council can provide fluorescent jackets, litter pickers and bags. They can also arrange to collect the bags of rubbish when you have finished. To find out more contact Council Connect:

If you need extra help with a local project either to tackle a one-off project, or for on-going support, there are is a variety of sources available:
Volunteer Centre: The local Volunteer Centre can advertise vacancies, volunteering opportunities and are currently working on a new scheme called ‘inVOLve’ which links businesses participating in corporate volunteering projects with community groups.

Universities: Students from Bath Spa University and the University of Bath have a volunteering programme and students can also apply for funding to assist with a community project.
